Megan Stauffer
(She/Her) Now accepting new clients
I specialize in perinatal and postpartum mental health, anxiety disorders, and OCD. I’m experienced in working with clients with complicated health histories, including chronic pain and illness. I love working with parents in all stages of child development from brand new parents to parents of teens/emerging adults.
I have specific training in The Gottman Method to work with couples, and love helping couples navigate challenging situations and changing family roles. I have helped parents work towards compromise and better communication when they are both parenting from different approaches/styles.
I have worked in a variety of settings including, in home support, school-based counseling, intensive outpatient, and inpatient treatment centers for children and adolescents. I love leading groups, and have experience facilitating support groups, weekend couple's workshops and 9 years of an evidence based parenting course called the Incredible Years Parenting program.
I have a skills based approach and like to teach people practical ways to address and combat their worries and fears that may be holding them back from living a truly fulfilling life. I use mindfulness and self-compassion to help client's augment their self-esteem and learn to soften their inner critic.
North Carolina has been my home for almost 20 years. I still find new places to explore all the time, I love spending time with my husband and three sons. When I'm not working I like to cuddle my fluffy cats, work out on the Peloton, and make art.
