Hold Me Tight®, Let Me Go for Families with Teens was developed by Drs. Nancy and Paul Aiken and is based on the groundbreaking work of Dr. Sue Johnson and attachment theory. This transformative workshop is designed specifically for parents and their teenage children. "Hold Me Tight, Let Me Go" provides a structured, supportive environment for families to strengthen their bonds during the challenging adolescent years.

Through guided conversations and interactive exercises, parents and teens will:

  • Identify and understand negative interaction patterns

  • Heal past hurts and rebuild trust

  • Create a secure attachment that balances connection with appropriate independence

  • Develop communication skills that foster mutual understanding and respect

  • Learn to navigate conflicts while maintaining emotional bonds

This experiential workshop adapts Dr. Johnson's proven Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approach to address the unique dynamics of the parent-teen relationship, helping families create stronger connections while supporting teenagers' healthy development toward independence.

  • On Friday night we will meet just with parents to strengthen their caregiving relationship.

  • On Saturday teens will join their parents and, with group support, have an opportunity to communicate about their experiences.
